General FAQs

Why aren’t you open on the weekend?

One of our principal philosophies at Shoreview is that by bringing together and supporting a team of highly motivated and experienced professionals and by creating a culture that prioritizes their well-being and work-life balance, we will be best positioned to provide the highest level of service to our community. We believe that we can provide a higher level of care and better access to that care by having a consistent team, all working together every day during regular working hours. In clinics historically, the typically reduced staff levels on evenings and weekends are often not able to deal with all but very routine cases, while scheduling to cover these shifts creates gaps and inconsistencies in the day-to-day operation of the hospital. We strongly believe that being able to maintain the full integrity of our team during regular hours best equips us to be of maximum service to our community.

What do I do if my pet needs urgent care?

During our regular hours, we are committed to guaranteeing that we will never turn a patient away who truly needs to be seen that day and immediately, if necessary. Outside of our hours, we are pleased to offer our clients 24-hour, 365-day access to care through our partnership with SmartVet.ca. Via telephone, desktop or mobile device, your concerns will be triaged by an RVT who will either direct you to the best choice of emergency facility based on real-time updates on wait times and availability or to telemedicine consult with a veterinarian from the comfort of your home.

Do you provide financing options?

Yes, ask us about HUMM Financing. To help our clients deal with unexpected expenses, we have created a partnership with Humm Financing to offer financing at rates significantly lower than credit cards (5.99% up to $1500.00 and 9.99% over $1500.00).

An application can be completed and approved online or by phone in the clinic in mere minutes.

Do you accept pet insurance?

We will gladly complete and submit your pet insurance claims after your visit. We have experience working with all the major pet insurance providers.

At present, the majority of pet insurance companies will not reimburse the clinic but rather pay the client after they have paid their balance. This, however, is beginning to change, and we are ready to adopt direct payment from insurance companies as they start to make this service available.

I would like to transfer from a different vet. How do I set this up?

Simply call us with the name of your previous clinic, and we will contact them directly to have your pet’s medical records transferred to us. This process can usually be completed within 24-48 hours.

Do you have a price list for services?

At Shoreview, we are committed to being fully transparent about our pricing. All of our team members are able to share and discuss the cost of any of our products and services. Obviously, there are many situations where an accurate estimate of costs can only be made after a veterinarian has the chance to assess your pet’s specific needs. Based on their situation, the cost will be discussed as part of the process of developing a care and treatment plan for your pet. If you have any questions about the price of any specific product or service, please don’t hesitate to call us. Below is a list of some of our more commonly requested prices:
